Ahh, finally something to submit...
This is my Dragonball Z OC (or FC, for you hard-core skeptics and canon lovers) Son Riku. I made her up a while back, like, last year some time. I thought I was genius and was like, "What if Goku had a daughter?", but I'm not the only one who's thought of that, obviously.
About her name...no, I did NOT name her that so that it could be similar to Goku nor was I even remotely thinking about the silver-haired dude from Kingdom Hearts. I just wanted something easy and simple and Riku popped into my head. Really, after working with her for a while and writing with her, Riku suits her actually very well. About her eyes...you know, I really have no idea why I gave her blue eyes. I just like dark hair with blue eyes, I think it's a pretty combination. I knoooow no one in her family has blue eyes, but Riku is "special".
Riku is one of my favorites, honestly, because I don't have a lot of "little kid" characters or at least, they don't start their stories as kids. With Riku, I was given the opportunity to develop her as she grew, so it's been challenging, but incredibly fun! I've been working out the kinks in her personality and her strength so that she won't be a Mary Sue. Of course she'll be powerful (duh, frickin' GOKU is her papa), but her powers probably won't develop like Gohan's.
Oh yeah, also...that symbol on Riku's shirt is the Japanese symbol for "strength". I love it because of the meaning, obviously, but because it's just such a simple thing that means a great deal.
So a little background on Riku...
Riku is born a saiyan...or at least, a half-saiyan, like Gohan. She's a tough, hard-headed (um...that goes two ways) little girl with a lot of spunk and fight in her. She acts more saiyan than Gohan does...she can be pretty destructive without ever meaning to. Riku has the fiery determination and attitude of Chi-Chi, but the compassion and love for planet and people like Goku. She lacks Goku's laid-back demeanor and calm disposition, but she has his goofiness and immaturity. Her strength gets a little out of hand every now and again because she is so reckless, but she gains better control as she gets older and trains more.
Of course, Chi-Chi is dead-set against her only daughter becoming a fighter like her father and brother. Chi-Chi wants Riku to be successful as she does Gohan and she wants Riku to study constantly. Riku DOES like to read when she's not training, so she has that going for her, but besides that, she hates being cooped up. She likes being one of the guys (can't help it, really...without sisters in the home, you can't really blame her). Riku is two years younger than Gohan, so she doesn't really get to test her fighting out till around the Android/Cell saga.
Riku is really afraid of Vegeta. She doesn't get to meet him till after all the crap he pulled with Nappa and all that jazz (which she had heard about), but once she does, she is struck with a fear of the saiyan. She won't speak to him, she won't look at him, and she refuses to be anywhere near him if she can help it.
So. There you go. Little Riku.
